Since I tried a mixed dorm last year, this time I wanted to experience staying at Rucksack — and it was completely stress-free. The toilets and showers were great. I didn’t mind having someone next to my cubicle because everything was spacious. The shower cubicles are big, and the toilet cubicles give you plenty of room.

The bed was comfy, with its own light, outlet, and privacy curtain. They also have lockers and a long table with a mirror. We really enjoyed the pool and the bar too. Their food and cocktails are actually affordable. Ohhh, I miss the cocktail with the cherry on it!

The Silog at Rucksack was only ₱200, while restaurants outside charge around ₱350–₱500. Pang-masa talaga ang Rucksack!

Huge thank you to John Gazo for making sure we were safe during Typhoon Tino, and for giving updates from the LGU, evacuation centers, and news about the storm. Thank you to Precious for the smooth transaction at the front desk — she’s the best! She placed me in a room and bed that I liked, and I even got a room all to myself when my roommates checked out early.

And thank you to Gelo for helping me with everything I needed and making sure I was comfortable in my room.

This hotel/hostel was to our expectation for price vs quality & experience. *Location* : Great, 3mins away from the Melaka Palace Museum we could see it from our 1st floor room window. About 5 mins walk to the A'Famosa gate building, it's literally behind this hotel. 12mins walk from Jonker Street just past the A'Famosa gate *Room* : Quirky, clean and roomy. High ceilings, good hot/cold shower, silent aircond. Slightly lacking local TV channels via antenna as IPTV provided was hit or miss with signal. Wifi was good. Rooms are no-smoking, no-durian/mangosteen. *Breakfast* : Okay, local delicacies, fruits, bread & coffee/tea. Could do better with a wider choice of local fruits. *Pool* : Nice outdoor, shower/toilet, free pool towels provided. *Others* : 🌿Hotel common areas outdoors decorated with potted plants, 🥫drinks fridge (payable at reception), 🥛 free water fountain (hot/cold), 🚗free parking by hotel in front of entrance marked in yellow lines for about 7-8 cars. If there's no free space, council parking was RM5/day payable by parking app. We got a free space used for 3 nights make our money's worth on the stay 😁

. Breakfast is included, which is unusual in Asia. There wasn't much variety, both European and local, but it was enough to get you started sightseeing with something to eat!
By the way, we checked in after midnight since we landed in Singapore that same day, and there were no problems because I had notified the hotel the day before! Thank you for this 3-day stay!!🫶🫶👌👏

6 friends came from Spain for our degrees final vacation, and we totally felt in love with Siargao!! Rucksack is the perfect place to stay, the rooms are incredible (comfy matresses), lot of young people, a lot of activities (volleyball, bingo, quizes….) and also an amazing swimming pool to relax in. If you want to have fun, make friend and have party, it’s tour place, absolutely amazing!!
Finally I would like to thank Rommel, the owner, he is always there to see if everything is perfect, we made a really good relationship with him, he is incredible and because of him Rucksack is amazing!!! If I come back, for sure I’d stay in Rucksack!!! And hope to see Rommel again!!!!

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Rucksack Inn Singapore and Rucksack Inn Siargao: 3 pm check-in, 10 am check-out

Can I book without a credit card?

Sorry, folks! We require a credit or debit card to guarantee your booking. But don’t worry, we accept Visa and Mastercard – the dynamic duo of credit cards!

How can I pay at the property?

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards and bank transfers at all properties and have local digital payment options available.
Gcash is accepted at Siargao, TouchNGo at Melaka and PayNow at Singapore.

How do I cancel my booking?

Oh no, we’re sad to see you go! But if you must cancel and you booked directly with us, please check the cancellation policy on our website first and then contact the respective hostel for assistance. We’ll try to make it as painless as possible, promise!
For bookings made through 3rd party booking providers (ie Hostelworld, Booking.com etc), please check their cancellation policies and approach them directly.

How do I amend my booking?

How can I do a group booking?

Can I be sure all my friends will be put into the same dorm?

We’ll do our best to keep your squad together! Just contact the hostel you’ve booked at before arrival, and we’ll make it happen!

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a deposit at each property. The deposit amount varies by property, as follows:

Rucksack Inn Singapore: 50 SGD (cash or credit card)
Rucksack Inn Siargao: 1000 Pesos (cash or credit card)
Rucksack Inn Premium Melaka: 100 RM (cash only)

The deposit is payable upon check-in and will be refunded upon check-out, provided that all terms and conditions are met and there are no damages or outstanding payments.

Can I arrive in the middle of the night?

Night owls welcome! If you’re arriving between 10 pm and 7 am, please let us know in advance so we can make sure someone is awake to greet you!

Can I gain entry to the hostel at night?

Our hostels are open 24/7, so you can come and go as you please! Just remember to keep the noise down after 10 pm – we have sleepy travellers to consider!

What are the reception hours?

Our reception hours vary by property:

Rucksack Inn Singapore and Rucksack Inn Siargao: 24/7 – You can check-in anytime and our friendly staff will be happy to assist you.
Rucksack Inn Premium Melaka: 8 am – 10 pm – Our friendly staff are available to assist you within these hours.

Do you offer luggage storage facilities?

Yes, we offer luggage storage facilities in Siargao. For our Singapore and Melaka outlets, we don’t have a dedicated storage room, but our friendly front office team will be happy to help you store your luggage temporarily. Please note that we’ll do our best to keep it safe, but we won’t be liable for any loss or damage.

Do you have Wi-Fi access available?

Absolutely! Our Wi-Fi is fast and free, so you can stay connected.
For Siargao we went the extra mile as Wi-Fi can be unstable. We are using Globe Telco Direct internet and have installed access points in all rooms to ensure there is not one dead spot on the property.

Can you assist with booking tours or transportation?

Our friendly front office team is happy to help book tours, transportation, or anything else you need to make your trip amazing!

Are there laundry facilities on-site?

Our Singapore properties have laundry facilities available for a small fee. Melaka and Siargao do not have laundry services.

Is there air conditioning in the rooms?

All our rooms and dorms have air conditioning to keep you cool and comfortable during sleeping hours. No sweating or freezing here!

Are pets allowed in the hostel?

Sorry, furry friends! While we love animals, our hostels are pet-free zones to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety.

Are there hair dryers and ironing boards available?

Yes, we’ve got hair dryers and ironing boards available to borrow at the reception at all properties. Please check with our reception staff for availability. Because looking good is important, even when you’re backpacking!

What are the pool hours?

Our pool hours are from 7am to 10pm, available only in our Melaka and Siargao properties. The pool in Siargao is closed every Tuesday for maintenance.

Are towels provided?

Yes, we provide towels in Melaka and Siargao; In Singapore, towels are available for rent or purchase.

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

In Siargao, you can indulge in a delicious breakfast at our café/restaurant, with options available for purchase to suit your taste and preferences. In Singapore and Melaka our properties are strategically located and have many breakfast options (Western and Asian style) available in walking distance.

Do you have a kitchen or cooking facilities available for guests?

No, we don’t have guest kitchens. But don’t worry, there are convenience stores and food centres near each property serving yummy local food at wallet-friendly prices!

Can I consume food and drinks in the room?

Sorry, no food or drinks in the rooms except water! We want to keep our hostels clean and comfy for everyone.
