I really loved my stay at Rucksack Siargao. Went there for 2 days and was welcomed with warmth by its people. I haven't thanked much to Edjie coz I had to check out so early and I wasn't able to meet him at his shift. Couldn't find a way to message him but I hope this works Bro. I would definitely go back. Sending hugs to you and the housekeeping team. You guys are the best! I had fun.

Room-wise, beds were so clean and comfortable to rest in. Highly recommended!✨

I stayed at this hostel for a longer time last year and decided to come back again this year. The rooms are great. There is also a pool and a restaurant, which makes the stay even more enjoyable.

Above all, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. A special shout-out goes to Edjie, who was already here last year. Whether it’s questions, tips, or just a nice conversation – you always feel welcome.

My time in Rucksack was amazing. I was a solo traveller and I met a lot of amazing people. The vibe is great, there is a volleyball court to play, a pool and a lot of activities. Special thanks to Beth, which was doing a lot of activities, where it was easy to meet people. She was a lovely host and I consider her a friend as well now. The waiters in Cabrones were amazing. Truly felt like home! Will definitely come back.

A perfect place, even without being in the hostel you can join to play volleyball grab drinks or just chill.
And they have very good game every night.

I've been going to Rucksack for a few years now, and I have to say that I really love the place.
The beds are so comfy and spacious, they have great a/c so it doesnt get stuffy in the rooms, and there are lockers provided. There's also a nice pool with bean bags that you can relax on.
It's also easy to make friends, especially because of their events and, Beth, who handles them. She makes sure everyone feels included and it's always a good time.
The management also always goes out of their way to be helpful and ensure everyone has a good time.

P.s. the wifi is great!

I'll definitely stay there again!

I’ve been staying at this hostel for about four months now, and honestly it’s been amazing. Since I work online, the Wi-Fi is great, there’s a really nice workspace, and the staff is so friendly. Then I met Beth, she’s super sweet and we clicked right away. It honestly just started to feel like home 🫶

I love this place! The staff are incredible - Gelo, Beth, Andrea are just amazing. Everyone is very friendly.
The restaurant inside the hostel is very good, with tasty food and affordable prices. The rooms are nice, and the staff are always willing to help with any questions.

Le meilleur hostel de Siargao, le staff est toujours là pour aider, très souriant. Le restaurant est pas très chère, et c'est bon (surtout les pancakes). L'emplacement rien à dire, j'ai pris une chambre pour 4, globalement propre rien à dire la dessus. J'ai passé un super séjour, avec des soirées organisées très sympa. Je recommande fortement.

My stay at Rucksack was great. There was always something going on, from fun volleyball games to nightly entertainment provided by Beth, which brought people together and created a very social atmosphere. Andrea at reception really stood out as well, going the extra mile to make my stay memorable with her fantastic service and great energy.

What can I say. Incredible 3 weeks there. The reception staff are so friendly, helpful and generous. They love what they do and it shows. To Beth, the hostess with the mostest. Her energy for activities is endless and she really cares about people. Ella who has the best energy and who helped me when I was struggling with my injury. The whole team felt like family. Oh and the place itself is fantastic. Especially the dorm beds, comfy and curtain blocks out all light. Highly recommend and I'll be back 🤩

How to Get There?

Traveling by plane to Siargao is the most efficient way to reach the island. You can fly to Siargao directly from the main jump-off points in Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao – three primary island groups of the Philippine archipelago. You can also choose to fly to Surigao City and then travel via ferry to Siargao Island.

By Flights

Siargao has its own airport, the Sayak Airport, located in the municipality of Del Carmen. Sayak Airport is only connected to domestic destinations.
Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, and Skyjet have regular direct Siargao flights from Manila, Cebu, and Davao. It’s best to book months in advance, as prices can skyrocket the closer you get to your departure date.

If you’re coming from outside of the Philippines, you will have to travel to either Manila-Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Luzon, Mactan-Cebu International Airport in the Visayas, or Surigao Airport and Davao International Airport in Mindanao.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Airport in Luzon would be your jump-off point if your connecting flight is in Manila. NAIA is connected to several international destinations in North East and Southeast Asia, Middle East, Oceania, North America, and Europe. From NAIA, there are direct Manila to Siargao flights to Sayak Airport.

You also have the choice to fly to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport in the Visayas. You can then book Cebu to Siargao flights from there. Cebu is closer to Siargao than Manila so travel time is shorter and plane fares are most likely lower. Mactan-Cebu airport is connected to 21 international destinations.

Another option is to fly to Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao, commonly referred to as the Davao International Airport in Mindanao. This airport is connected to Asian destinations like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. You can ride a plane to Siargao from Davao airport.

By Flights and Ferry

Some travelers prefer to fly from Cebu to Surigao City and take the ferry to Siargao Island from Surigao Port. This is a considerably cheaper route than flying directly to Siargao from Cebu.

From Surigao City

You can fly to Surigao Airport from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and then catch a ferry heading to Siargao at the Surigao Port. Cebu Pacific has direct flights from Cebu to Surigao City.

There are daily fast craft trips from Surigao Port to Dapa in Siargao Island. Evaristo & Sons Sea Transport and Atlantis Yohan Express are the primary shipping lines, with ferries plying Surigao City to Siargao Island every day.

A penalty of PHP 5,000 will be charged if you smoke or vape anywhere on the property

Pool Hours: 7AM to 10PM

Please do not eat and drink by the pool. Let’s keep it clean for all guests. Pool will be closed for maintenance every Tuesday

Visitors to Leave by 10 PM

You may invite visitors to the common area. However, we all have to say goodbye at some point, and for visitors that point is 10 PM daily except for patrons of our bar and restaurant

Security Deposit

To ensure the comfort and safety of all our guests, we require a PHP 1000 security deposit upon arrival. This can be paid via cash or credit card

If the deposit is paid in cash, it will be returned to you on the day you check-out, provided no damages are found, towels and linens are not soiled, and locker keys and keycards are returned

Room Rules

No Eating and Drinking

Except for drinking water, please do not eat and drink in the rooms to keep them free of food smells and pests

Quiet Hours

Be considerate and keep the volume down after 10 PM or whenever someone is sleeping in the room / dorm

No Smoking or Vaping

Stick to Your Bed

A penalty of PHP 2,000 will be charged if you use a dorm bed not allocated to you. If you would like to switch beds, come to the Front Desk and we will try to accommodate your request

Conserving Energy – 24 Degrees

We turn off the air-con from 10 AM to 7 PM. If it gets too warm and the fan isn’t enough, let us know and we will turn on the air-con for you. We will set the temperature at 24 degrees

Rucksack Inn Siargao is not a party hostel. Quiet time starts at 10PM. Please respect fellow guests and keep the good vibes, not loud nights.

How do I cancel my booking?

Oh no, we’re sad to see you go! But if you must cancel and you booked directly with us, please check the cancellation policy on our website first and then contact the respective hostel for assistance. We’ll try to make it as painless as possible, promise!

We’ll do our best to keep your squad together! Just contact the hostel you’ve booked at before arrival, and we’ll make it happen!

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a deposit at each property. The deposit amount varies by property, as follows:

Rucksack Inn Singapore: 50 SGD (cash or credit card)
Rucksack Inn Siargao: 1000 Pesos (cash or credit card)
Rucksack Inn Premium Melaka: 100 RM (cash only)

The deposit is payable upon check-in and will be refunded upon check-out, provided that all terms and conditions are met and there are no damages or outstanding payments.

Can I arrive in the middle of the night?

Night owls welcome! If you’re arriving between 10 pm and 7 am, please let us know in advance so we can make sure someone is awake to greet you!

Can I gain entry to the hostel at night?

Our hostels are open 24/7, so you can come and go as you please! Just remember to keep the noise down after 10 pm – we have sleepy travellers to consider!

What are the reception hours?

Our reception hours vary by property:

Rucksack Inn Singapore and Rucksack Inn Siargao: 24/7 – You can check-in anytime and our friendly staff will be happy to assist you.
Rucksack Inn Premium Melaka: 8 am – 10 pm – Our friendly staff are available to assist you within these hours.

Do you offer luggage storage facilities?

Yes, we offer luggage storage facilities in Siargao. For our Singapore and Melaka outlets, we don’t have a dedicated storage room, but our friendly front office team will be happy to help you store your luggage temporarily. Please note that we’ll do our best to keep it safe, but we won’t be liable for any loss or damage.

Do you have Wi-Fi access available?

Absolutely! Our Wi-Fi is fast and free, so you can stay connected.
For Siargao we went the extra mile as Wi-Fi can be unstable. We are using Globe Telco Direct internet and have installed access points in all rooms to ensure there is not one dead spot on the property.

Can you assist with booking tours or transportation?

Our friendly front office team is happy to help book tours, transportation, or anything else you need to make your trip amazing!

Are there laundry facilities on-site?

Our Singapore properties have laundry facilities available for a small fee. Melaka and Siargao do not have laundry services.

Is there air conditioning in the rooms?

All our rooms and dorms have air conditioning to keep you cool and comfortable during sleeping hours. No sweating or freezing here!

Are pets allowed in the hostel?

Sorry, furry friends! While we love animals, our hostels are pet-free zones to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety.

Are there hair dryers and ironing boards available?

Yes, we’ve got hair dryers and ironing boards available to borrow at the reception at all properties. Please check with our reception staff for availability. Because looking good is important, even when you’re backpacking!

What are the pool hours?

Our pool hours are from 7am to 10pm, available only in our Melaka and Siargao properties. The pool in Siargao is closed every Tuesday for maintenance.

Are towels provided?

Yes, we provide towels in Melaka and Siargao; In Singapore, towels are available for rent or purchase.

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

In Siargao, you can indulge in a delicious breakfast at our café/restaurant, with options available for purchase to suit your taste and preferences. In Singapore and Melaka our properties are strategically located and have many breakfast options (Western and Asian style) available in walking distance.

Do you have a kitchen or cooking facilities available for guests?

No, we don’t have guest kitchens. But don’t worry, there are convenience stores and food centres near each property serving yummy local food at wallet-friendly prices!

Can I consume food and drinks in the room?

Sorry, no food or drinks in the rooms except water! We want to keep our hostels clean and comfy for everyone.
